The Power of Water

For a long time I've been thinking about water. Nothing can live without it. Our life has always to do with it, from drink water that people need at least 2 L a day to water people need to flush wc, from tears drop to show your sadness or happiness to flood or even tsunami. Even after your home and garden have been destroyed by water, you'd need directly water again, right?

I like to hear water sound. Once I stayed in a house at the beach. At night when everyone slept, I just heard the wave. So awesome! Almost every 2 years we move to another house. In our different houses there is certainly a water plant whether it was in a pond or just in a vase.

Water has always power, no matter how much or how less it is. People use the power of water fall for generators and a glass of water can make you feeling stronger. Even tear drops of a woman can make a man doing anything what she wants him to do.

For a long time I wonder whether the water out of our body has something to do with water inside our body which makes 70% part of it.

I got the answer of my question when I saw and read a book The Miracle of Water by Masaru Emoto (original title Jibun Ga Kawaru Mizu No Kiseki). Based on his 20 years research, he describes that water is influenced by words and behaviour of people, no matter where it is.

He made pictures of crystal of frozen water. In his book he shows different picts of crystals made by water. Water which is given words like love, thankfull, hapiness, hope, family, love for country, peace, deliver beautiful crystals. On the contrary after it has been given words as stupid, ugly, you can't do it, sattan, failness, the crystal aren't beautiful. You can see the pictures of the crystals here.

Everything has vibration and this vibration makes energy. The energy will not disappear. It influences everything in this world. So our words which also have energy, can influence our surrounding including the water we use inside and outside our body.

According to him language is formed from the voices of nature. If the source is one (nature) why are there now different languages in the world? It is because the nature is not the same at all places. Where ever you go the nature spouts voices which have different and special vibration for its surrounding. For example, in Indonesian there are more words for 'rice' than in English. In English they use "rice" for padi (rice plant), beras (the filling of rice plant) and nasi (cooked rice). While there are more words in English for "ice" than in Indonesian.

This difference is also the reason why a voice of a dog in English is wuf-wuf while in Indonesian is guk-guk and voice of a rooster in English is cock-a-doodle-do and in Indonesian is ku-ku-ru-yuk. Dogs and roosters in Indonesia are not very different with the ones in other countries but the way to hear of a culture makes it different.

Although words in various languages can be different, all words are formed in accordance with the nature principle. That's why whether water given by "Thank you", "Merci" (French), "Dank u" (Dutch) or "Terima kasih" (Indonesian), it will deliver a similar crystal.

Another interesting point of his book is that the words you said to a plant can influence the grow of that plant. It reminds me to what I did to my plant, Lieve Toni. Apparently it's not strange at all what I did. Thanks Mr. Emoto!

The words we say and our thinking have a power to influence our self and surrounding. It can make it better or worse. Please remember that our surrounding is not just nature but also your beloved ones. So, now we have another good reason to have more controle of what we say.

Now back to the water again. Water has unique characters. It adjusts directly to a media where it takes place. It can fit in the oceans, seas, rivers, sewers and even in a straw. Beside, it has also power to heal or to relax. Warm bath is very good for good sleeping. Before a baby takes his first air breath he enjoyed his place in amniotic fluid. Paralysed people is recommended to exercise their muscle in the water. And the voice of streaming water can make you calm.

There are a lot more interesting points in this book but I will not write them here. I recommend you to read this book if you want to know more. I am sure you'll enjoy it and get another perspective of the nature and it means also another perspective of your life.

The Cleaning Fish

My six years old son, Anugerah is crazy about animals, no matter what, from insects to dinosaurs. Long before we moved to our new house, he asked me many times about having s quirrel, iguana, rabbit, another dog (we have already a dog), fish and even a gecko.

Because we don’t want to live in a zoo, now we just have fish and a dog. I’d like to have a squirrel and iguana as well but they must be free in the garden. Since we don’t have any big trees, it would be hard to keep them in our garden.

Anugerah was very excited when the fish pond is finally finished. Together with his sister, Pelangi, he played in the pond before we put fish in. He knows a lot about fish; the names, shape and colors. Beside fish, he wants to put turtle and lobster. Preferably he likes to have a seahorse in it. As the name said, it’s not suitable for our pond. He gave a suggestion to take home some sea water if we go to the beach. But finally he could reconcile on it.

We have bought Comet and Koi fish and two turtles. On his suggestion we also bought cleaning fish. I am not sure whether this is a international name for this fish. My son called it with that name and the fish vendor as well. But when I typ "cleaning fish" in a Search Engine to find a pict of it, I just found pictures of people cleaning fish. Yukky...

The children just give names to turtles. The turtles are male and female. The female’s name is Tortilla and the other is Tortillo. Every morning the children went to the pond to see its inhabitants. They counted the fish and tried to find out where the turtles and cleaning fish are. The turtles have some favorite spots so it's easy to find them but it’s hard to find cleaning fish. Their color is black and they like to stay at the bottom of the pond or between roots of the plants. Anugerah is the one who could find them fastest.

The cleaning fish don’t care about their surroundings. Although there are more than one cleaning fish, they never stay together. The only thing they do is eating the dirt. It seems that they don't enjoy swimming like other fish. In a short time they are growing bigger.

Sometimes you see this behavior at people as well. They just do what is important for them without paying attention to other people and their surroundings. They just make themselves bigger. But one thing is clear, the cleaning fish do what other fish get benefit from it. How’s it at people?

More Than Words

Like the children, I also go to the pond every morning, noon, evening and every time I like to. I feel connected with the pond and its surrounding. No, I don't know whether they talk or what they talk about but yes, I often talk with them. Since my experience with the plant Lieve Toni, talking to plants is for me not weird anymore. I said that I'm happy to see them all and that they are growing well. I also give my compliments about their beautiful flowers.

One morning I saw Lola. She didn't swim but to my great relief she swam away when I made a movement with my hand. Then I saw that there was too much ground in the flower pot, that it left less space to swim. I needed to clean it, I thought, but not today. Today I had something else to do.

The next morning I heard Anugerah calling me. "Mom, I see a dead fish!". I went directly to the pond. I wonder which fish it was. We have bought a lot of fish but not all fish were survived. Every time we bought fish, there was one fish or more which just were alive for one week. So every morning I went there, I hoped not to find another dead fish. Mostly if a fish was just staying alone and didn't swim a lot, it wouldn't make it the next day. I don't know why. As you see I still have to learn. But yesterday I saw them all swimming well in the pond.

When I was at the pond, my son pointed at the flower pot. I saw a fish with a beautiful long tail floating. My dear Lola, it was you! How bad I felt that morning. You showed me yesterday that the pot needed to be cleaned, that you needed more space to live due to the ground of Water Lily. I saw and knew it but I did nothing. I'm so sorry Lola.... I wish I could be back to yesterday.

That noon I took all fish out of the flower pot and put them in the pond. I washed the Water Lily and reduced the ground around its roots, cleaned the pot and after that just put the Water Lily in it. I keep the fish in the pond. To kill mosquito's larva I spread insecticide in it. Lola is dead and there will be no fish anymore in the flower pot.

It reminds me once again that love doesn't need nice and lovely words only but more important, it needs actions at the right time and the right place.

Lieve Toni

Since I found the love for plants and nature, I am looking forward for the time I can work in my garden. I know there are other chores as well but I enjoy working in the garden the most. The biggest work in the garden is cleaning the garden from weeds. I have to pull its root out the ground carefully because it also grows in the grass. So I have to ensure that I won’t pull the grass instead.

I spray the garden twice during dry season. So during rainy season like now I have more time to take away dry and branch or leaves and weeds. I heard several times that plants will grow well if you talk to them. When I heard it, I just laughed. It was so silly. Talk to your dog or cat is ok because they know whether you are happy or angry but what could a plant do? They just grow or don’t. That’s what I thought

Sometimes it’s for me a speculation when I buy a plant. I am not an expert in this field. I can not foresee whether a plant is healthy or not. I just learn by doing. Once I bought a flower plant. It has small purple and white flowers and has also fragrance. Lieve Toni is the name. At least that’s the name I got from the vendor. I haven’t heard this name before but I can not check the truth either. What a pity that a lot of people don’t know names of plants they have in their garden or house and sometimes even the vendor doesn't know the name of the plant they sell. So if you know that this name is not correct please let me know.

The plant looked good and the vendor said that it didn’t need a lot of attention. Just never forget to give it water. I planted it beside the window of our bedroom near to Jasmine flowers. I like to smell its nice fragrance every morning I open the window.

The first days the plant still looked ok and I gave it water regularly. But there were days I couldn’t spend time in my garden and the worst that I forgot to give water to the plants, especially this Lieve Toni. After a couple of days Lieve Toni began to dry. The leaves were falling out. I gave more attention to it, took wild grass around it and never forget to give it water again. But I didn’t see a change. There was a day that I thought “I’d better pull it out the ground and throw away”.

Suddenly I remember that you can talk to plants. It was still silly for me but why not? It doesn’t cost any cent. You just need several seconds. The only risk you take is that your neighbor would look surprised if he or she sees you talking to plants. That’s the bad thing and the good thing is that I don’t have any neighbors (yet). So I started to talk to Lieve Toni. I said, “Dear plant, I’ve seen your beautiful small white and purple flowers and smelled your fragrance. You were a nice plant. Please grow again. I know you can make it”. I did it several days and of course kept giving it water as well.

Every morning I open the window in my room, I breathe the fresh morning air and look around at plants and flowers in the garden. One morning I looked at Lieve Toni. It looked different. There were new leaves on its branch. It grows again! I said spontaneously “How happy I am to see you growing again. You did it!” My husband heard it as well but he got used to.

Although I can’t sing, I like to listen to music and songs especially the ones with good text. Often you can apply the text into your daily life. But I am happy that I didn’t apply the famous song from the film Notting Hill to this plant. Yes, you know it, the song is You Say It Best When You Say Nothing At All.

If a plant needs attention and encouragement, do you know how much people need it? If such encouragement can change a life of a plant, can you imagine how it works at people?

Lola

Beside my pond I have a round flower pot. There are a water lily and fish in it. First there were some small comets but after a while I just find one left. Maybe the neighbor's cat had them already in its belly.

The only comet in the pot has red and white color and a beautiful long tail that is swaying while it’s swimming as if it said “Keep looking at me”. We call her Lola, referring to a beautiful fish in the film Shark Tale.

Now we have the flowerpot and its habitants already three years. But Lola is not alone there. A lot of baby fish are in the pot as well. They are another sort of fish. I am not sure how they could be there. My children might put them once there and now they have babies. The strange thing is that Lola remains the only big fish in the pot.

Because the pot is not growing, I would like to put Lola in the pond so she can swim freely. Beside there are other comets. Lola would happy to meet them. My daughter, Pelangi said, “I don’t think so. In the pot she is the mom. If she’s away, how are the small ones?” But we still took Lola out the pot and put in the pond.

Lola swam away in the pond but she didn’t joint other comets. I just let her. So do I if I meet new people. I’d take time. The next day she still stayed away from others. I started to doubt whether I did the right thing.

That afternoon we got a heavy rain. The pond got more water till it overflowed. After the rain I saw a fish on the edge of the pond. It was Lola! I thought she’s already dead but suddenly she fluttered. Maybe she tried to escape from the pond. Soon Pelangi went in the pond (she really liked it and asked me many times for it) and put Lola back in the pond. Lola swam away but still far from other fish. Then we were sure that she didn’t like the pond. She missed her small pot and kids. Pelangi took Lola out the pond and put her back in the pot. Soon a lot of small fish welcomed her. They were happy to stay together again. No, Lola, don’t be afraid. We won’t take you away any more.

My daughter is right; you should not take a mother away from her children.

Aren't They Lovely?

These are Kana. I've seen Kana many times when I was a child and I didn't like it. Maybe because they grew everywhere so it became usual, not special.

But when we were planning about having which flowers we wanted in our new garden, I thought directly, one of them must be Kana. The orange one is what I've seen a lot in my childhood.

Apparently there is new kind of this flower - at least for me - like the red and yellow ones. However I like both kinds especially the colors. Actually I don't like the color yellow. I don't have any T-shirt or cloth with that color. But with that color flowers can be so lovely.

The Kana shine a happiness. In my eyes they dance with the wind, smile and say "Don't worry, be happy". They don't ask any attention but they are eye-catcher.

The flower vendor said that a flower of the new sort will live longer than the old ones. Every morning I take a look whether they are still there or not. It makes me sad when they are already wilted. But I know other flowers will grow and do the same "job" again.

In a short time they are be able to do important thing, to shine and share happiness. How about us?
